Just a quick update about an upcoming book I’ve been following (and mocking) for quite some time now. The book in question is Putin: His Downfall and Russia’s Coming Crash by Richard Lourie, and it’s developing exactly as I thought it would, perhaps even worse:
An electrifying and timely book, by leading Russian expert Richard Lourie [first time hearing about him – J.T.], that explores Putin’s failures and whether Trump’s election gives Putin extraordinarily dangerous opportunities in our mad new world.
For reasons that are made clear in this book, Putin’s Russia will collapse just as Imperial Russia did in 1917 and as Soviet Russia did in 1991. The only questions are when, how violently, and with how much peril for the world. The U.S. election complicates everything, including:
· Putin’s next land grab
· Exploitations of the Arctic
· Putin and China
…and many more crucial topics.
Puting: His Downfall and Russia’s Coming Crash is an essential read for everybody bewildered and dismayed by the new world order.
Keep in mind Putin’s original description was this:
Why is Putin still a mystery? He keeps catching us off-guard because we have no feel for his deeply Soviet background and his KGB psychology. His society is as opaque as he is. Crime, government, business, and the secret police are four different things, but in Putin’s Russia they are almost indistinguishable.
Putin’s Russia will collapse just as Imperial Russia did in 1917 and as Soviet Russia did in 1991. The only questions are when, and how violently, and with how much peril for the world.
You know, I was wondering why I couldn’t locate the bar for Russia writing anymore. The bar is subterranean.
(Putin’s expected publication date is July 18th 2017. The Goodreads Giveaway for this book is here if you’re interested.)
